AI Podcast Lab Adds a Free Generation Model and a New Look
Two things changed on AI Podcast Lab since we introduced it a month ago. There is now a free model that handles both script writing and narration without drawing on your credits, and the studio around it has been redesigned from the logo down.
A Free Model for Text and Audio
The friction with any credit-based tool is the same: you spend something every time you experiment. Try a second angle on the intro, re-render because the pacing was off, test whether a topic even works as audio — each attempt costs you.
The new free model removes that from the loop. Script generation and narration both run on it, and neither consumes credits. You can take a source all the way to a finished, downloadable episode without spending anything, which makes the platform genuinely usable before it is a purchase decision.
That changes what the first hour with the tool looks like. Draft a script, dislike it, rewrite the brief, generate again, hear it out loud — the iterating is now free, and you only reach for credits when you want a specific quality of voice on the finished thing.
What the Credits Are Still For
Credits did not go away; they moved up the stack, to the higher-quality narration tiers and to web research.
- Audio quality tiers. Per billable minute, Draft costs 1 credit, Premium 3, and Excellent 6. Billable length is the longer of the length you select and the script's estimated spoken length.
- Scripts on the paid models. One credit per draft or revision, or two when web research is switched on so the script can pull in sources beyond what you supplied.
- The free plan still refills. €0, 15 credits every month, no card, and no storage quota.
- Paid plans. Creator is €4 a month for 100 credits, Pro is €9 a month for 300. A one-time top-up of 100 credits is €4, and purchased credits do not expire.
Failed renders are refunded automatically, and episodes can run anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes.
A New Look
The redesign is not a coat of paint on the old layout. The whole home page is now built around the thing the platform actually does — source in, episode out — with a live workflow panel that walks through the three states an episode passes through: the locked source and your angle on it, the script you draft, edit, and direct, and the finished audio master with its runtime and format.
The identity changed with it. The mark is a skewed waveform in lime on near-black, the typography is editorial rather than SaaS-generic, and the palette holds to off-white, black, and a single accent. "Ideas, on air" sits at the top of it as the promise the rest of the page has to keep.
The practical effect is that the page now explains the workflow instead of describing it. You can see where the words come from, where you intervene, and what you walk away with.
Languages
Scripts and narration cover 18 languages, including American and British English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. The interface itself is translated into nine: English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese.
